While this is not my normal type of blog post I feel this is something that I should share. Recently I have started to sponsor 2 children through Compassion International and I believe this has been one of the most life-changing things that I have ever done.

Compassion International is a non-profit Christian child sponsorship organization dedicated to the long-term development of children living in poverty in Jesus' name. They currently sponsor more than 1,200,000 children in 26 countries around the world.

I first decided to sponsor after listening to Shaun Groves advocating Compassion while at church 2 weeks ago. After the service, I sponsored my first child, a precious little 5 year old girl by the name of Syerlina Fisti Syalomita Bogar from Indonesia.

Then, after spending the next few days going through Compassion's website reading about their work and watching their videos on Youtube, I decided to sponsor my second child, Marisela Isabel Padilla M, A beautiful 6 year old girl from Honduras.

The current cost of sponsorship is $38 per child. The money that you send each month goes to providing food and clean water, medical care, education, life skills training and spiritual guidance to the child and their families. Sponsors have the privilege of writing letters and receiving letters from their sponsored children as well as being able to visit their children through Compassion's guided tours of the countries where your sponsored children live.

Now I could keep this blog post going for an indefinite amount of time talking about Compassion's work, But I wont, If you are looking for more information I would encourage you to visit Compassion's website, Or even check out their videos on Youtube. Either one would be able to give you FAR more information than I ever could.

I was just dropping into say that I was able to purchase a new camera back in May and Im finally able to start putting it to good use. I will be posting more pictures within the next week or so of some of my older models that needed to be updated. I am also restarting on a project that I almost scrapped back in February. Expect some progress pic's before too long. I am redesigning the base again right now. And If all goes well I should be posting some more pic's of my Megarachnid as well. I am VERY close to completing the assembly process and I'm getting really excited to see how they will turn out when their painted. Once I'm finished with my current project I shall be building a small display board for them to show them off at the GW store. Well, I need to start getting ready for church so I will see you guys later. Peace out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-86315121395705572862012-12-16T18:33:00.000-06:002012-12-16T18:33:26.886-06:00The ReturnHey guys, IM BACK!!! It has been a long time since I have posted anything and so I here I am with some new pictures (and a new video) of my Megarachnid - While I have finalised my codex I will not post it here because it would take up too much of the post so this time it is just my most recent pictures and video. I hope you enjoy them - If you have trouble seeing the images - click on a picture and it will open all of the full size images into a slide show
My last picture is of a new class of Megarachnid that act as vanguards and who can fortify terrain pieces that will add +1 to each terrain piece that they enter (sacrificing movement and attacks for 1 round to achieve that fortification)

My next picture is of my Stalkers, These are my Terminator class spiders

Now if you have read the codex that I posted you may have noticed my entry about my Baby Spiders and my Spider Bots. Their stat lines are styaing the same but my Spider Bots are now capable of being used in a normal game and my Baby Spiders will now die after 1 round of combat regardless of how many wounds are left on the model due to their new Hyperspawned rule.

My next picture is of my Spider Guardians - who have traded giving their unit Feel No Pain to giving them Preferred Enemy instead.

And now, Last but not least..... Volgatha The Spider Queen. Here entry has stayed the same except 2 minor changes - Her Queen of the web ability now has the ability to bolster an existing unit within 12" or create a completely new unit instead of creating an ever-expanding bodyguard. And now her Commanding Presence ability confers to all units within 12".

Well That about wraps it up for this session. I am planning on completing the remainder of my Megarachnid before I dive into my next big project. I hope to have these done within the next 6 month's at least - I'll keep you guys posted on the progress. Until then Peace Out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-55231871387963718542012-02-26T21:04:00.000-06:002012-02-26T21:04:29.633-06:00Megarachnid codex revisionsAs most of you know - Yesterday was the big 25th anniversary party of Warhammer 40k. While I did not expect to have this oppurtunity, I was allowed to run some of my Megarachnid in the last squad battle of the day. As this was the first time that they have been used in a battle apart from a apocalypse battle before we had completed this current codex, It has opened us up to learn more about how they affect the battlefield. But like all play tests, We have now revised the codex to better suit them. I'll give you guys a quick synopsis so you dont have to flip back and forth between this and my last post of my codex. Originally, We had them set up that they were normal infantry with Fleet - Now they have been upgraded to "Beasts" which means that they still have Fleet, but they are now able to move a LOT farther. We have taken away 1 shot from their Venom Spit but have bumped up the range by 3" and we have also allowed each one of the Squad Sergeants to be able to take close combat upgrades. But to offset the changes we have bumped up each one of the models points cost. So now, without further ado - Here is the revision of my Megarachnid Codex

I found this website online that has a VERY cheap price for a professional looking Video - all you have to do is put what pictures you want in the video and what music and they take care of the rest. The website address is animoto.com

I set my account up with the Plus option so I can make full length videos and not pay through the nose. The price for plus is $30 a year so its not a bad price for something like this.

Ok thats enough chat - Here is my video for my Megarachnid - Enjoy!!!
I recently got an idea about converting my Winged Clades and I think I found a pretty good way to do it - So, if you guys can wait for a few hours I will post the pictures. If I'm able to pull it off it should be pretty cool - Wish me luck!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-60512302006075060552012-01-29T18:36:00.000-06:002012-01-30T20:43:06.368-06:00The Return of the MegarachnidSome of you will probably remember an entry that I made last April about a concept army that I was working on. In that time frame I have slowly been building it up and now I want you guys to see what kind of Army book I have for them - the book is a group effort between me and about 3 other guys that I hang out with at my local Games Workshop store. While this will never be a viable army book it'll be nice to finally play the army (at least in my local store) - If you look in my archives for April you will see how some of my finished models look like. I shall post some more pictures of my other models as they become available. but until that time, look over the army list and maybe even put in some suggestions about some of the entries, It would be greatly appreciated.
These 3 pictures show the changes we have done to the front of the keep - We have added a decorative strip along the front and have connected the secret door to the ramp (still leaving enough of a gap to warrant a jump test for LOTR games)
We decided to go with a set of stairs instead of a ramp to lead up onto the second story of the keep and we also decided to leave the possibility of an armoury for the possible future expansion.

Roughly the only thing left for us to build is the drop-gate directly above the doorway - I have a general idea for it but I hadnt been able to implement it yet.

Also one of my friends is going to be doing a video of the entire project today (hopefully) so I will post the link when he's able to upload it.

There are a minimum of 2 more projects that I have in mind that will probably start surfacing pretty soon. So,until that time - Peace Out and Happy Gaming!!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-76110041812679984842011-08-14T11:20:00.001-05:002011-08-14T11:23:56.063-05:00Helms Deep project part 5Man I am worn out from this round - I went to Games Workshop yesterday to maybe work on my project for 5-6 hours and hang out for the rest. I made it there at about 1:15 and started about 1:30 and only took 2 breaks from start to finish - I only stopped when I heard that it was close to 9:00 - So forgive me if I keep the Information short - But apart from that the project is coming along a LOT faster now because we are almost DONE!!!

Well I wont bore you with too much dialog today so please enjoy these pictures
this large block is going to be our basing for the Keep - As you know we are slightly modifying the way it looks to make it a bit more functional. We will be adding another ramp to the other end of the keep so defenders can access the keep from either side.

Well thats about it for now - we will be picking up 2 boxes this saturday to help finish it off so after that we should be able to start basing the hardboard. So until next time - Peace Out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-26303586952012550392011-08-10T11:19:00.000-05:002011-08-10T11:19:33.369-05:00Helms Deep project part 4 Coming SoonI will be posting the pictures later today - This phase has seen a LOT of things happen that I feel have made this project worthwhile for me - When I started this project I had NO CLUE how this was going to turn out. but seeing it come together the way it has has been AWESOME. We haven't even started the basing for it yet and I already feel this is going to be my greatest achievement yet. Its coming out so well I have even started thinking about my next project. So I hope that you guys will keep up the encouragement. It has definitely made a BIG difference!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-85595201711980311542011-08-04T18:57:00.000-05:002011-08-04T18:57:46.110-05:00Helms Deep Project Pics part 3Hey guys, As you will see from the next set of pictures I have been really busy this last week. I was basically able to do this next set of building on Sunday with some help from some of my friends. I have finally found out how I am going to do the Keep so this next round of pictures will be quite impressive.

Ok, for those of you who have just joined us and you guys who have been following my progress faithfully, I wish to give you guys a big Thank You. If I didn't know that anyone was waiting to see how this was going. I dont think I'd have made it this far. I hope that this project has sparked some ideas in your own heads. If it has, all I can say is - Go for it!!! You are only limited by your own imagination.

Ok enough of my rambling........
This view of the large walkway shows the cutout section for the wall that the defenders can open to drop rocks onto the attackers trying to beat the door open. This section should be quite interesting to build. If you guys have any idea on how this can be done please let me know.
Well, thats it for now - Im going to be picking up at least 2 more boxes of the bricks tomorrow so I'll probably have a huge chunk of this thing finished by next week. Until Then, Peace Out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-40599520740304669702011-07-29T16:09:00.000-05:002011-07-29T16:09:38.200-05:00Helms Deep Project Pics part 2 - The Battle ContinuesHey Guys,
Ok for this set I have mapped out what Im going to be doing with the rest of the project except the for main keep - so far I have used 2 boxes of the bricks and 1-1/2 bags of glue sticks and I dont see using less than 4 boxes of the bricks but we'll see what happens....
Before I show the pictures I will give a short description of the products that I'm using and also give links for them as well

Project Bricks - click on the name for the link
The Project Bricks are REALLY easy to work with, these are what they look like just out of the box

The bricks are 11/16" x 11/16" x 1-7/16" so we stacked them about 7 high for the wall - 6 high for the wall height and 1 brick to provide cover.

Low Temp Hot Gun
The item I used to build them is a Super Low Temp hot gun that I also found at Hobby Lobby that works pretty good - the only thing that you have to watch out for is it dries faster than a regular Low Temp gun. But if you dont mind that it should be really easy to use.

Now on the pictures - This took me about 6 hours of overall working time to build. The hardest part was making the balcony because you have to crush the pieces to make the inside. But overall it's coming out really nice so far. The size we're going for it a little under 2' x 4' so you can see I'm probably going to be working on it for a pretty good length of time.
For the last bit of who-knows-how-long I have been thinking about doing a LOTR board of Helms Deep - the only interesting part was HOW to do it. Just about a week ago I was in Hobby Lobby and I found a GREAT product called Project Bricks that is made by Floracraft. Theses bricks are made out of hardened Styrofoam and they are going to be the way that we are going to use to make the building. I have already started building the section of the wall that contains the drain that the orcs use to blow a hole in the wall in the movie. I will be posting pictures of the progress as I go along - The project is going to be done at the Games Workshop that I go to so I'll be able to keep you guys posted on its progress pretty easily. Well, Until next time. Peace out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-52107169969515075202011-04-12T14:21:00.000-05:002011-04-12T14:21:15.955-05:00Skillet is back in town!!!!!!!!!!!Tonight should be one of the most awesome concerts that I have seen in a long time - Skillet is back in H-town with StoneSour, Theory of a Deadman, Halestorm, and Art of Dying. Till then, Peace Out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-18221523276485025612011-04-08T23:31:00.000-05:002011-04-08T23:31:27.636-05:00Vampire Counts Display TableOk guys here it is, Apart from having some of the parts at least partway assembled this display table took me less than 10 hours to build, paint, and do the basing. So 2 days ago I started thinking of ways to be able to make it. While I do not have pictures of the finished product yet - I wanted to show you its humble beginning's at least - I am hoping to take the finished pictures tonight after work.
While this is not a "typical" army that most gamers would think of as being one that they would want to try to build, paint, and play against other people, I am not your "typical" gamer. Ask any one of my friends at the Games Workshop that I go to, A few examples of armies that I am currently building are..... Chaos Dwarves, Skaven Clan Moulder army, and the Dwarf Slayer army. While each of these are or have been sanctioned by GW. There is another army that I have NEVER heard of anyone even attempting to convert or even make an army book for them, The Megarachnid!!! For the people that have NOT read Horus Rising (Book 1 of the Horus Heresy novels) The Megarachnid are an alien race very similar to the Tyranids except in one small detail - to put it in simple terms - their cyborgs. The way they are described in the novel is.....

(Horus Rising - page 207) Even after he'd slain a fair number of them, Saul Tarvitz was still unable to say with any certainty where the biology of the megarachnid stopped and their technology began. They were the most seamless things, a perfect fusion of artifice and organism. They did not wear their armour or carry their weapons. Their armour was an integument bonded to their arthropod shells, and they possessed weapons as naturally as a man might own fingers or a mouth.

With that said, here are the pictures of the Megarachnid as seen in my minds eye. But first I will show you what they look like before the conversion
From the picture directly above, Locate and cut off both the 2nd and the 3rd leg from the front on both sides, with that complete, slightly angle the stump where the leg molds into the body and reattach the leg so it splay's to the side as seen in the next picture
Or you can be really brave and try this next one

You only have to cut off the first 3 legs and reattach them in such a way as to make it look like its jumping - then put it on a flying base using the hole that was originally used to mount it to its cavalry base.

I will post more pictures of completed models as they come available. The more fun task is coming up with rules for them (strictly for fun of course as I would not be able to use the rules in a legal tournament but something so that me and my friends can recreate the battle for Murder.)

Well, as I am only starting to convert the models it will probably be a little while before you hear from me again. so until that time, Peace Out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-11846150511309821762011-04-03T07:50:00.001-05:002011-04-03T07:52:47.685-05:00Caveman's Grave Guard are hereAs I said yesterday, It would either be today or tomorrow that I would be posting my next set of models - for the guys who followed my post on how I painted my Grave Guard - here are the finished products - the only thing that I changed are the swords, I wanted to give them a magical look instead of looking just like any other sword - The process is..... Basecoat Enchanted Blue, Drybrush Ice Blue, and then give them a wash of Thraka Green. You can still see each of the colors in the blade and they came out really nice.

I apologize for the wait - I got a little sidetracked

While you are viewing the pictures you will notice that I have used multiple models to convey this process to you. This was to help get me started working on them as well as giving you a chance to see my other models as well. Each of these models has 9 steps to achieve the final result. I will give a brief description for each picture as I go.
Keep in mind that this process is only a suggestion for painting Vampire Counts. You may mix and match colors if you think they look nicer.

Caveman's Vampire Counts Painting Process Step 1 - Basecoat any metal items (armour, weapons, and shields) Charadon Granite.

Caveman's Vampire Counts Painting Process Step 2 - Drybrush Tin Bitz over the Charadon Granite.
Please let me know if you like the models - I will be posting other types of models as I get around to painting them. If you want any suggestions for other armies - let me know. Until next time my friends, Peace Out!!!Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-67665213761355502922011-03-03T09:40:00.000-06:002011-03-03T09:40:47.933-06:00Cavemans Painting ProcessIn a hope to revitalize my interest in blogging I am going to post a step-by-step process with pictures of how I paint different types of models. Since I am currently working on my Vampire Counts army - I will be posting pictures of me painting one of my Grave Guard. But before I begin I will post the finished product so you guys can see how its going to come out. While I will not be able to post pictures of it today, I would like to like to ask you guys what you think of my pictures so far. While I know I'm not as good as others, I want to ask your honest opinion. This is getting to be a frightfully one-sided blog. I've only had 1 comment out of all of the pictures that I've posted and that wasn't even by a member, It was by a guy who was looking online for others who had done Necron conversions.Matthew Curryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01220624711707094113noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110514846910114883.post-36524966699639979312011-03-01T19:04:00.000-06:002011-03-01T19:04:07.675-06:00More Pic's from the CavemanI almost forgot about these models the other day-Its just been so long since I finished them that I forgot to take pictures of them along with my other models.

This round of pictures consists of a few pic's of a regiment of Plague Censor Bearers from my Skaven Army, a small regiment of Dwarves from Lord Of The Rings, my Cairn Wraith's from my Vampire Counts army, and a Canis Wolfborne model from Space Wolves. Again-If you like the way I painted them-feel free to ask me the process that I used.
